It seemed like a chance encounter…..if you believe that things happen by chance!
I happened to be browsing a local Facebook site when someone from our Community shared the Junior Camp competition post. I clicked on all the links and read all the associated stories. It was almost school bus time, so I kept it on the screen to show my daughter Kiara. I asked her if she might like to go to something like this. As she also scrolled and read and watched every video I saw the spark in her ignite. I told her it was a competition and that we could enter. Her response was “If we don’t win, how long would it take us to save up the money, so I can go?” At that point I knew she had to go whether we had the money or not (and I knew it would be “not”).
Heather called some time later to tell us we had been successful in winning a place. I wish I had been more eloquent on the phone, but I think I just babbled many words of thanks being unable to comprehend the opportunity that had just been afforded to our daughter.
After a lifetime of searching I heard people speaking from the heart and sharing life enriching strategies and golden nuggets of information. Empowering and imparting life changing information to the next generation, as well as their parents. My thumping heart soon told me this is what I had searched for and had been craving for the best part of 30 years.
After 4 Camps & 2 Be Your Best events I yearned for the further teaching of Power of You. This event was life changing as I found the confidence to connect with myself again after some several very difficult life events. I was no longer afraid to ask the hard questions. I was also searching for direction as I knew my workplace was toxic but felt trapped in the responsibilities of regular employment.
A few months later, having made the decision to boldly leave my job and being in the process of extracting myself from there, I got a phone call from Heather who wondered if I might be interested in some Admin work. The past few weeks have been terrifying and awesome and scary and brilliant as the wonderful Jodi teaches me what I need to know. I always thought I was pretty proficient at administration systems and processes. I could not believe that every single program and process was unfamiliar to me. Not even one was familiar. Every single process was brand new. I felt like a PC user in a Mac school! But Jodi’s patience and practical teaching of her vast knowledge has proved to me that I am not too old to learn something new (A lie I had believed which prevented me trying).
There is now a stirring of possibility in my being which has been buried for a very long time.
I am up for the challenge! Whatever that looks like! And I can’t wait to see what I learn next!
