The 2019 USA facilitation training was one of the most eye-opening experiences of my life. Not only from being able to witness the program and training that the past Facilitators I looked up to as a camper and a Team Leader went through, but to also participate in that exact same training was an incredible opportunity. Getting to learn the why behind a lot of the things we do at Green Supercamp Australia, the differing Facilitation methods, learning how to connect with the campers on a deeper level, as well as being constantly coached made for a very challenging and insightful experience that I will never forget.
Getting to go through the program not only by myself but with two fellow Australians, and individuals from across the globe such as Egypt, Singapore, and Mexico made for a diverse group. This group, paired with the Program Director and Facilitator Trainer, allowed us to all support each other with coaching on how to improve and become the best Facilitators we can be!
After the initial training, we had an opportunity to put our hard work into practice and facilitate a Supercamp over in the states. I was lucky enough to facilitate a Supercamp program at Stanford University. Having such a great and diverse group of 120+ kids as well as a supportive Facilitation team made for a great camp and it was absolutely incredible to be on stage as a Facilitator.
The Facilitation training was both challenging and vulnerable but full of an immense amount of growth, support and insight. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to participate and will hold the learnings from this experience with me for the rest of my life!
